Oh…you got a lot to get. Be careful…scrapbooking is adictive! LOL Have fun! Here are the basics though…
Make sure everything you buy is acid free. If you shop in the scrapbook sections, you won’t have a problem.
A paper cutter is a good purchase to make straight cuts on your pictures and paper.
Nice sharp scissors
There are large packs of colored paper in 12×12. You can even get these at most Wal-Marts or Targets. Michaels is a bit pricy!
Tape Runner (any kind). You’ll need something to stick your pictures and paper.
Nice colored pens for journaling and making titles.
There’s SO much to learn. If you have scrapbook stores in your town, most offer classes to get started. They are a blast.
i would suggest you look thru your photos..and kinda get an idea of what you want to scrapbook..look at the theme of groups of them..throw out fuzzy out of shot or fingers in the pictures.you need three or four to a page in a 12×12..then take a stroll to michaels and ac moores..you will soon realize you can get themes from your stickers and papers to compliment your photos..buy a good set of markers or pens..some glue and scissors..you could also get a supply of cardstock paper in different colors so you can compliment any paper you may buy for the actual them of your photos..you can look online the magazines to me are a waste of money…yours are not going to look like theirs and you want yours to be one of a kind not a copy of someone elses..michaels also offers classes so you could ask while you are there…good luck and have fun..your family will love your scrapebooks for years to come i know my kids love mine
You will need paper, cardstock, glue sticks, and scissors. All the other stuff is decoration- stickers, embellishments, dye cuts, ribbon…etc.
I suggest you get a scrapbook kit to start out. It can be a little overwhelming when you are starting out. The kits are pretty self inclusive except for scissors and glue.
go to http://scrapbooking.about.com/ Look in the left margin, and you will be able to get all the info about getting started….. There is also lots of ideas and free videos that shows you how to do stuff. Things aren’t always as difficult as they look ! You also get ideas about what is a "must" to start with. It’s so much fun !! Good luck

If you have a way to do these things:
Crop and fix your pics if needed, load them onto disk and have them printed at bargain price. File your originals in inexpensive photo boxes.
Various dollar stores sell supplies. Take a couple of hours or a rainy day and just go dollar store hopping for supplies.
Consider purchasing cutting tools that will be safe and get the job done…coupons could come in handy here.
In-store and online deals/coupons are always available as well as clearance and bulk sales.
Don’t forget things around the home that can also be used such as tickets from the trip to the zoo, etc.
Have fun and homemade cards are great to give with gifts as well : )
